Ultimate palm-sized camcorder with XAVC 4K (QFHD) and MPEG HD

The popular PXW-X70 palm-sized camcorder continues to evolve with the addition of XAVC 4K (QFHD) 100Mbps recordings at 30p/25p/24p, plus MPEG HD422 and MPEG HD420, providing even more recording choices. It is possible to select an output from HDMI, SDI, and composite while recording QFHD, plus a salvage function for XAVC file is available. The camcorder also records XAVC HD, AVCHD and DV with advanced network functions such as QoS Streaming in Network Client Mode and Ustream direct streaming added via firmware version 3.0. The PXW-X70 gives users the ultimate balance between picture quality, advanced functionality and compact size.

Network functions including Ustream and QoS Streaming

The PXW-X70 is packed with all the latest network functions, from QoS Streaming for high quality of transmission when streaming to the PWS-100RX1 in Network Client Mode, to direct streaming using Ustream, with no need for a separate PC setup when using version 3.0 or higher firmware. The camcorder also provides Wi-Fi/NFC (Near Field Communication) with Content Browser Mobile software.

1.0 type Exmor R CMOS Sensor for stunning picture quality

High sensitivity and fantastic resolution with 14.2 million effective pixels delivers striking detail and colors, even in low light conditions.

Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T lens

The lens offers a 12x optical zoom, which can be increased to 24x with Clear Image Zoom while retaining full resolution thanks to Super Resolution Technology. Zoom performance can be doubled at any point with a Digital Extender by up to 48x.

Compact, lightweight XDCAM camcorder packed with adaptable professional functions

The PXW-X70 weighs less than 1.4kg, including the XLR handle unit, battery (NP-FV70), lens hood and large eye-cup. It offers professional interfaces such as 3G-SDI and HDMI output connectors plus an XLR x2 handle unit with zoom lever. Other professional features include a manual lens ring that can intuitively control zoom and focus, ergonomic palm grip with large zoom lever, two SD memory card slots for backup, simultaneous and relay recording, and a three-level switchable ND filter.

1.0 type Exmor R CMOS sensor for a wide range of shooting conditions

The PXW-X70 incorporates a 1.0 type Exmor R CMOS sensor, which is approximately the same size as a Super 16mm film frame, to achieve high resolution, high sensitivity, low noise, and wide dynamic range. The sensor has 14.2 million effective pixels enhancing shooting under severe lighting conditions and providing more freedom of creative expression.

High sensitivity and high resolution

The PXW-X70 has higher resolution than any other camcorder in its price range. The 1.0 sensor is brighter and offers more bokeh with a shallow depth of field than 1/3-inch or 1/4.7-inch sensors.

Compact body

The palm-sized PXW-X70 is ergonomically designed to provide a lightweight and easy-to-use experience.

Advanced BIONZ X image processing engine

An evolved BIONZ engine achieves more lifelike images, and enables the addition of new features that take advantage of faster processing.

Direct streaming via Ustream

The PXW-X70 is capable of direct streaming in real time using Ustream. Ideal for small events that do not require multi-camera switcher operation, it is possible to share scenes as they happen with high quality picture and sound. Two resolution modes are available: 1280x720 (29.97p, 25p, 23.98p) or 640x360 (29.97p, 25p, 23.98p).

QoS Streaming

This feature allows images to be streamed live from the camcorder for viewing at a remote location. Data transfer rate, specified by two image quality menu settings (1280x720p and 640x360p), can be selected to suit the network environment being used. HD recording on internal media is available at XAVC HD 422/10-bit, AVCHD and MPEG HD*. There is no need for separate PC set-up, everything can be set on the camcorder's menu.

Wired LAN Connection

This feature allows the PXW- X70 to be connected to the Internet over a wired connection via separately available USB adapter cable "VMC-UAM2" and Network adaptor kit "CBK-NA1", allowing files to be streamed or transferred by FTP.

FTP Transfer

This feature supports FTP file transfers on the PXW-X70, allowing content files recorded with the XAVC Proxy Recording feature and other content files shot in XAVC (4K/HD), MPEG HD and AVCHD formats to be sent over the Internet for remote storage on an FTP server.
